Happy Holidays!

The Ohio Governor’s Residence and Heritage Gardens is decorated for the 2023 holiday season! This year, two Christmas tree displays have special significance to Governor Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine, as well as the Friends of the Ohio Governor’s Residence and Heritage Gardens.

Redemption Tree

Each year, the Redemption Tree is designed by inmates at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, Ohio. This year’s tree recognizes First Lady DeWine and her many initiatives. The display showcases her passion for supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio, the Heritage Gardens, cooking with kids, hunger initiatives, and Storybook Trails.

Each year, the Friend’s Garden Volunteers collect plastic bags, yarn, and other supplies used create the intricate tree design.

Cardinal Tree

First Lady DeWine designed this year’s Cardinal Tree with support from her grandchildren. Each grandchild created a cardinal handprint ornament, which is hung on the tree alongside many other cardinals.

This year’s Cardinal Tree references the Ohio Department of Development’s new ‘Cardinal Christmas’ Campaign, which brings the spirit of the holiday season to life while promoting Ohio as the heart of opportunity and adventure.
